This is a 4″ ROCK RACING Fabricated Housing center section, Designed by JEH Consulting LLC, this housing is designed for the abuse of rock crawling and rock racing with a narrow center section and thick material construction. You can build these housing from mild steel or 4130 Chromoly, MIG or TIG welded, depending on your preference. To complete the housing, we suggest the addition of a backing truss and link mounts, also available on this site.

This housing center section is designed with a 1" pinion offset to the passanger side of the vehicle. The housing tubes are the same length when you center up the center section in the chassis.

Features a 2″ hole pre-cut for the filler and capacity for 10″ ring gear sets, the third member utilizes ARP press in studs (3/8″).

What material and thickness should I cut these from, and can I TIG it?

You can build this center section from either mild steel or 4130 chromoly, whichever you prefer. It welds up fine either MIG or TIG depending on what you're set up for.

Is this a complete housing or do I need to grab more files to finish it?

This is just the center section. We recommend adding a backing truss and link mounts to complete the housing, and both of those are available here on the site.

What ring gear and third member does this center section work with?

It's got capacity for 10" ring gear sets and the third member uses ARP 3/8" press-in studs. It's also designed with a 1" pinion offset to the passenger side, so the housing tubes end up the same length once you center it in the chassis.

Do I need to know how to weld and fab to use these?

Yep — these are cut files for DIY and pro fabrication. A lot of the parts are "plasma table friendly" (flat plate, no bends) to make cutting and assembly easier, but you'll need to cut and weld them in yourself, or have a shop handle it.
