Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an actual DXF cut file or just 3D scan data to design from?

This one's a 3D scan and data pack, not a cut file — you get the scan mesh in STEP format plus geometry blocks so you can pull center points and start designing your own fabricated 9" housing. It's meant as your starting reference, not a part to run on the plasma table.

What's actually included in the pack and what format do the files come in?

You get a scan of a 9" through-bolt case with a 9" gear set and 40 spline spool, backed with a faceplate and mock tube centerline, all in a STEP file. It also includes critical geometry blocks so you can grab the relevant center points and data for your design.

Can I use this to design a fabricated housing for my long-travel build?

Yep, that's exactly what it's for — it gives you the case scan and centerline references so you know where to start laying out your own fabricated 9" housing. If you need custom design help dialing it in for your build, shoot us an email and we can connect you with the designers.

How do I get the Ford 9" Center Section with Housing Mock up Parts after I buy it?

These are digital — soon as your payment goes through you get a download link for the DXF cut files. Nothing physical ships.

Can you point me to a shop to get these cut and bent?

Yeah — if you don't have your own CNC plasma, laser, or waterjet, shoot us an email and we'll send over a few shops that can cut (and press/bend) the parts so you can weld them up.

How do I get the files, and what do I do with them?

Soon as your payment goes through you get a download link for the DXF cut files. You (or a shop) cut them from steel on a plasma, laser, or waterjet, bend whatever needs it, then weld them into your build. Nothing physical ships.

Do I need to know how to weld and fab to use these?

Yep — these are cut files for DIY and pro fabrication. A lot of the parts are "plasma table friendly" (flat plate, no bends) to make cutting and assembly easier, but you'll need to cut and weld them in yourself, or have a shop handle it.
