Frequently Asked Questions

Are these delivered as DXF or is this an actual 3D scan I can build mounts off of?

This one comes as a STEP file, not a flat DXF, so you get the full 3D scan geometry to design your seat mounts around. If you need a different format, shoot an email to [email protected] and we'll see what we can do.

What are the geometry blocks in the file actually for?

They're built into the CAD to give you easy reference points for aligning and laying out new seat mounts. Makes it a lot quicker to design brackets that match up to the seat instead of guessing at the geometry.

Will this scan work for designing mounts in my trophy truck or UTV build?

Yep, the STEP scan is meant to be used as a reference to design your own seat mounts for whatever you're building. As long as you're running the PRP Echo Composite, this gives you the geometry to work from.

How do I get the PRP Echo Composite - Scan CAD File after I buy it?

These are digital — soon as your payment goes through you get a download link for the DXF cut files. Nothing physical ships.

How much does the PRP Echo Composite - Scan CAD File cost?

The PRP Echo Composite - Scan CAD File is $30.00.

Do you have 3D Scan CAD Files cut files for an off-road or race build?

Yeah — DIY Off Road carries downloadable DXF cut files across 3D Scan CAD Files, including Race Seat Scan CAD Files, all designed by working fab shops. Browse the 3D Scan CAD Files section or email us and we will help you track down the right files.

Can you point me to a shop to get these cut and bent?

Yeah — if you don't have your own CNC plasma, laser, or waterjet, shoot us an email and we'll send over a few shops that can cut (and press/bend) the parts so you can weld them up.

How do I get the files, and what do I do with them?

Soon as your payment goes through you get a download link for the DXF cut files. You (or a shop) cut them from steel on a plasma, laser, or waterjet, bend whatever needs it, then weld them into your build. Nothing physical ships.

Do I need to know how to weld and fab to use these?

Yep — these are cut files for DIY and pro fabrication. A lot of the parts are "plasma table friendly" (flat plate, no bends) to make cutting and assembly easier, but you'll need to cut and weld them in yourself, or have a shop handle it.
