These seat scans are setup for use in a chassis project, something we do daily at JEHC. If you are designing a new chassis or need to place a seat to make the mounts for an existing chassis this is the perfect file. We use this style of seat scan file to design seat mounts in everything from race trucks to SEMA project vehicles.

The scans are delivered in ZIP folders in STEP file format. IF you need another format please email [email protected] with your request and order number, we can get you any file type you request.

Each seat is scanned from a new physical seat from the manufacture, this means they are not perfect. They are slightly tweaked because all seats come from the manufactures with slight tolerance differences. They are not symmetrical (computer perfect) but they work great for designing the chassis and seat mounts. To assist you in design of the seat mounts we have also placed geometry blocks in the CAD files for the seat mounts.

***This product is a Digital Asset. You are purchasing the cutting files (DXF) or Solid (CAD) files for this component so that you can have these plates cut and bent (press) from a CNC plasma, laser, or waterjet machine.***

Frequently Asked Questions

What file format do these seat scans come in, and can I get a different one for my CAD software?

They come as STEP files delivered in a ZIP folder. If you need another format, just email [email protected] with your request and order number and we'll get you whatever file type you need.

Is this an actual scan of a real seat or just a perfect computer model?

It's a real scan off a new physical PRP Alpha Composite Wide seat straight from the manufacturer, so it's not computer-perfect or perfectly symmetrical. That's actually how real seats come, and it works great for laying out your chassis and building seat mounts.

Does this file help me design the seat mounts or just give me the seat shape?

Both, really. Along with the seat scan we've placed geometry blocks in the CAD file to help you design your seat mounts, which is exactly how we use these when building mounts for everything from race trucks to SEMA projects.

How do I get the PRP Alpha Composite Wide - Scan CAD File after I buy it?

These are digital — soon as your payment goes through you get a download link for the DXF cut files. Nothing physical ships.

How much does the PRP Alpha Composite Wide - Scan CAD File cost?

The PRP Alpha Composite Wide - Scan CAD File is $30.00.

Can you point me to a shop to get these cut and bent?

Yeah — if you don't have your own CNC plasma, laser, or waterjet, shoot us an email and we'll send over a few shops that can cut (and press/bend) the parts so you can weld them up.

How do I get the files, and what do I do with them?

Soon as your payment goes through you get a download link for the DXF cut files. You (or a shop) cut them from steel on a plasma, laser, or waterjet, bend whatever needs it, then weld them into your build. Nothing physical ships.

Do I need to know how to weld and fab to use these?

Yep — these are cut files for DIY and pro fabrication. A lot of the parts are "plasma table friendly" (flat plate, no bends) to make cutting and assembly easier, but you'll need to cut and weld them in yourself, or have a shop handle it.
